Food packing and packaging

Food can be packaged in many different ways, and have gaseous or liquid packing mediums. To support food safety assessment and testing, FoodOn has terms to describe the compromised state of these materials. As well, the “food packing medium integrity” facet is included to distinguish whether a food has been drained or not drained when tests are conducted on the nutrient content of a food item. This can also be useful for describing possibly contaminated food.
